Deputy Nursery Manager

About This Role

The Deputy Nursery Manager will deliver high-quality, flexible childcare and deputise for the Nursery Manager, supporting with the daily operations of the Nursery, promoting a safe and nurturing environment for young children. This role involves assisting with safeguarding efforts, upholding the Werton Group's ethos, and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.

Main Responsibilities

• Oversee activities and progress in the nursery to create and develop a stimulating environment
• Promote high-quality childcare whilst maintaining professional and positive outcomes for children and staff
• Support staff with coordinating short and medium-term planning and prioritisation of activities to meet curriculum requirements
• Ensure effective training and development opportunities are undertaken
• Conduct daily risk assessments
• Maintain high standards of childcare within the nursery
• Ensure implementation of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
• Maintain healthy, balanced snacks with awareness of food allergies
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Officer
• Work with external agencies
• Maintain First Aider certification
• Plan activities across areas of learning
• Oversee daily room setup and activity creation
• Play with and support children's learning based on their interests
• Ensure correct use of online observation systems
• Maintain high standards of personal care and food/hygiene practices
• Support Nursery Manager with administration and IT tasks
• Build and maintain positive relationships with parents

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• 3 years working in or supervising nursery staff in a relevant early years setting
• 2 years post-qualification completion
• Experience of management, supervision, and appraisal of staff
• Excellent working knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance
• Knowledge and proven practical experience implementing quality learning opportunities

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 3/Cache/NNEB Level qualification

Desirable Experience

• Experience of working in more than one day care setting
• Experience working with volunteers and/or parents as 'partners' in community development
• Level 4 or higher Early Years qualification

Additional Requirements

• Good IT knowledge (Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Knowledge of digital learning platforms (FAMLY, Learning Book, Tapestry, etc.)
• Able to work confidently with SEND
• Able to work on own initiative
• Able to maintain confidentiality
• Flexible working hours as required
• Effective time management and prioritisation skills
